Family Law

Reorganizing a family’s structure can be stressful and confusing, but it does not have to be that way forever.

We believe that family law is the most important area of law – no other area of law touches more lives and unfortunately, no other area of the law destroys more lives.

You are not experiencing a “family breakdown”, you are not facing a “broken home”, and you do not find yourself at the end of a “failed marriage”.  Rather, your family needs to be reorganized in terms of living arrangements, responsibilities and obligations, and financial resources.  At the end of this process, your family will still be your family.

If a negotiated reorganization is inappropriate, impossible, or unreachable, then our lawyers can give you the clear advice and the clear guidance you need to make fully informed decisions while we seek a forced reorganization through litigation and trial.  Our lawyers have extensive experience in the courtroom and have achieved favourable results for countless clients over the years.

Our lawyers are family dispute resolution professionals.  We provide a full range of services, giving you the clear advice, guidance, and options you need.  With these, you can make fully informed decisions about your situation.  We will work together to reorganize your family’s future.  When possible, we will work together to negotiate what’s acceptable to both spouses, and in the best interests of children.  Our family dispute resolution professionals have extensive experience and have negotiated favourable results for many families since 1989.

Reorganizing a family structure is one of the most difficult times a family can face. How long the process remains difficult depends on many factors.

Clear legal advice will save time, save money, and save problems arising in the future.

For a more collaborative approach, consider Mediation

If you're thinking about going to court, consensual dispute resolution (CDR) is often a good place to start.

CDR is a process where a third party helps people resolve an issue together. It includes mediation, facilitated negotiation with a child support officer, or the collaborative law process. It doesn’t always require meeting in the same room.

People can use CDR to reach their own agreement instead of having a judge decide for them. Even if you can't agree, CDR may help you to be better prepared for court.
